As usual it’s been too long since an update. I’ve been busy… with some of the same projects, and a couple of new ones. At one point I had 8 acts on the calendar…when will I ever learn?!
new funky jazz band “What the Funk!?”
The most exciting is: I have a jazz/funk band going called “What the Funk?!” which has been a lot of fun and very well-received. Folks are saying it’s refreshingly different that what’s around Lakeside. I’m thrilled and honored to have on board excellent local talent, including two horns. It’s reminiscent of some of my past bands like Five, Blue Zebra, and Stellakinesis. It’s more jazz than funk; “funk” means different things to different folks, so I prefer the word “funky” as a descriptor… I’d say it’s “funky jazz + funky rock”. I’m not going to get overly concerned with being a dance/party band…does that make me selfish? 😀 Well sometimes one has to nurture the artistry side over the entertainment side.
